Act Now : Tell the Copyright Office to Make it Legal to Rip DVDs

Most recent activity: DRM

Tell the Copyright Office that you own movies on DVD, you own devices with screens, and that you would like the ability to put those movies onto those devices without breaking the law.

Register Pallante,

I write today in support of Public Knowledge's proposal to exempt noncommercial space-shifting of motion pictures on DVD.  Currently, the DMCA prevents me from disabling technical protection measures on my lawfully acquired DVDs in order to copy the motion pictures contained on those DVDs onto other devices that I own.

I have a reasonable expectation that I can shift the motion pictures contained on these and other DVDs to my own devices for noncommercial purposes. It is unreasonable, and unintended, that the DMCA should interfere with this type of activity. I urge you to grant the exemption.

Please list a sample of the DVDs you own, one per line.
