Today, the Supreme Court announced its decision in the case Ohio v. American Express.

The following can be attributed to Gene Kimmelman, President & CEO of Public Knowledge:

“Today’s Supreme Court decision is an enormous setback for consumers who rely upon the antitrust laws to promote market competition. This is a particularly dangerous setback that will open the door for communications and internet platforms to continue building dominant market positions virtually impenetrable to innovation from smaller competitors. This Supreme Court decision will make it significantly more difficult for antitrust to police the dominant tech platforms. It is now time for Congress to weigh in to correct this judicial misreading of the law.”
