Today, Public Knowledge joins millions of people from across the country in filing comments at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on the subject of net neutrality. Public Knowledge’s comments reflects the concerns of many Americans, and call on the Commission to enact net neutrality rules that stop paid prioritization and the prospect of a two tiered internet by reclassifying the internet as a Title II service.
The following can be attributed to Michael Weinberg, Vice President at Public Knowledge:
“Public Knowledge urges the FCC to adopt strong net neutrality rules based in its Title II statutory authority. This means making it clear that service providers – be they wired or wireless – cannot create a two-tiered internet. The only way to protect a single, open internet is for the Commission to classify broadband internet access as a Title II telecommunications service.
“Fortunately, the FCC is fully empowered to make this change and implement robust net neutrality rules. The Commission should take this opportunity – almost a decade after it first recognized the need to protect the internet in its internet policy statement – to finally implement robust rules that can sustain the inevitable court challenge.”
