Today, the U.S. Senate voted to confirm Lina Khan for the Federal Trade Commission with a bipartisan vote of 69 to 28. Through her landmark academic work and her contributions to the work of House Antitrust Subcommittee Chairman David Cicilline (D-RI), Khan has fought to hold technology companies accountable through stronger antitrust enforcement and by improving competition law. Public Knowledge commends Lina Khan for her work in championing the public interest and applauds her confirmation to the FTC. Khan will support needed enforcement and important reforms at the agency.

The following can be attributed to Charlotte Slaiman, Competition Policy Director at Public Knowledge:

“Congratulations to Lina Khan on her confirmation to the Federal Trade Commission. This is a big win for consumers and the public interest. The strong bipartisan vote in her favor is both confirmation of her impeccable credentials and of the bipartisan interest in holding Big Tech accountable. We know we can count on Commissioner Khan to push for important enforcement actions and to use the FTC’s tools to promote the public interest. Now, with a full slate of Commissioners, the FTC can make needed progress on its important agenda to protect consumers and competition.”
