Public Knowledge welcomes Dylan Gilbert, Policy Counsel, to our team to focus on privacy protections, copyright reform, and various platform issues. He holds a J.D. from the George Washington University Law School and a B.A. in English from the College of William and Mary.

Prior to joining Public Knowledge as a Policy Fellow in 2017, Mr. Gilbert clerked at the National Telecommunications & Information Administration, the Federal Communications Commission, and America’s Public Television Stations. As a part of his fellowship at Public Knowledge, Mr. Gilbert supported the launch of the organization’s first cybersecurity papers, participated in music licensing panels, and led Public Knowledge’s privacy work. Mr. Gilbert previously worked as a professional musician in Los Angeles, where he served as a performer, producer, and music supervisor for more than a decade.

The following may be attributed to Public Knowledge President & CEO Chris Lewis:

“We’re thrilled to welcome Dylan to the Public Knowledge team as permanent staff after two years in our fellowship program. As a fellow, Dylan developed a keen political sensibility to match his hard work ethic and willingness to take on any task that needed to be done. Over the past nine months, he has led our day-to-day work on advocating for a strong, comprehensive privacy bill, engaging with many Congressional offices, industry players, and other stakeholders. Dylan also brings the unique perspective of a music artist to our team, adding the ability to translate the nuances and impacts of copyright policy for this important audience.”
